Introducing
Shoebox Scanning
|
|

|
|

How
many of you have boxes and boxes of photographs tucked away in your
closets, in your attic or your basement? Or, have you come across old
pictures from your parents or other relatives?
The MotoPhoto and Portrait Studio at the Van Aken Center in Shaker
Heights is introducing a new service to turn all of those pictures into
digital files on CDs or DVDs.
Bring all of your prints to MotoPhoto and we will scan and digitize them
for you. This is a great way to protect your pictures. Your pictures
could get destroyed because of an accident or natural disaster. They fade
as they get older. Scanning them now, and putting the resulting CD or DVD
in a safe place, preserves your pictures so that they can still be seen
in the future.
Giving a CD or DVD of your pictures to your children, your parents or
your siblings makes a great gift and helps protect your precious family
photographs.
Prices start at $24.99 for 50 pictures. The price per picture gets lower
for more pictures. You can even mail your pictures to us to scan instead
of having to stop by the store.

We recently
attended a national photography convention in steamy Las Vegas. We
learned about the photo industry trends from representatives of Fuji,
HP and the Photo Marketing Association.
They all agreed that the number of pictures taken has grown substantially
over these past few years thanks to both digital photography and
cellphone cameras.
But, they also have discovered that the total number of digital
pictures printed at retail stores like MotoPhoto now equals the number
of digital pictures printed at home. In future years, it is predicted
that the number of digital pictures printed at retail will greatly
exceed those printed at home. They speculate that this trend is due to
the ease and convenience of printing at a retail store and because the
price of printing at retail is generally less than printing at home.
These experts also said that digital cameras can now be found in over
70% of U.S. homes and that the rate at which digital cameras are being
sold is decreasing because the market is getting saturated.
It was pointed out that the film portion of the photo industry is still
a $1 billion business. While the film business continues to decline, it
is still very large. We see that every day with the number of rolls of
film we print.
